Urijah Faber (29-6) will take on Michael McDonald (16-2) at the upcoming UFC on Fox event on December 14th, with the UFC confirming this evening that the pair will battle it out in the co-main event slot of the Sacramento card, set to take place at the Sleep Train Arena.

‘The California Kid’ Urijah Faber is likely to be a home favourite in Sacramento and will go into the bout full of confidence after putting together a three-fight winning streak in the UFC’s bantamweight division, picking up wins over Ivan Menjivar (25-10), Scott Jorgensen (14-7) and most recently Yuri Alcantar (28-5 (1nc)) at UFC Fight Night 26 last month.
McDonald, also hailing from California, may not quite be as popular as Faber just yet, but should also receive a strong backing from the Sacramento crowd, with the twenty-two year old hailing from Modesto. McDonald, like Faber, also competed at UFC Fight Night 26, pulling off a dominant victory over Brad Pickett (23-8) scoring a submission win due to triangle choke in the second round. The bout was later given ‘Fight of the Night’ and ‘Submission of the Night’ honours.
UFC President Dana White also revealed this evening that Faber had originally been considered as one of the TUF 19 coaches, to compete opposite Frankie Edgar (16-4-1), however with Edgar and Faber disagreeing on what weight class they would compete at following the show, the spot went to BJ Penn (16-9-2).
