Another exciting bout has been added to the UFC on Fox 9 card, with UFC officials just announcing that Danny Castillo (16-5) will join his fellow Team Alpha Male teammates at the event, when he takes on Edson Barboza (12-1, pictured) in the lightweight division.

Castillo has been working his way up the UFC’s official rankings, having won five of his last six bouts, and now finds himself on the fringes of a top ten place. In his last outing Castillo picked up a unanimous decision victory over Tim Means (19-5-1) when the pair met in July, 2013. Castillo will now join up with his Team Alpha Male representatives in Urijah Faber (29-6) and Chad Mendes (15-1) when he takes on Barboza at the Sacramento event.
Barboza is another that finds himself just outside the top ten rankings after going 6-1 during his UFC career, during which time he has also picked up four ‘Of the Night’ awards. The most well-remembered being his spinning heel kick knockout of Terry Etim (15-5) in January, 2012, which not only earned the pair ‘Fight of the Night’ but also gave Barboza ‘Knockout of the Night’ and ‘Knockout of the Year’ honours.
In Barboza’s last outing he picked up a second round TKO victory over Rafaello Oliveira (15-6) following a series of devastating leg kicks. Both men will now know that a win for either man could leapfrog them into the top ten of the division for the first time in their careers and set them on route for a future title shout.
