Court McGee (16-3), winner of TUF 11, will have another chance to take down a fellow TUF winner, when he battles Kelvin Gastelum (7-0, pictured), winner of TUF 17, at UFC on Fox 9, scheduled for Sacramento, California later this year. The news was first reported by Fox Deportes.
The bout will mark McGee’s second consecutive appearance against a fellow TUF winner, after he successfully despatched of TUF Smashes winner, Robert Whittaker (13-3), at last month’s UFC Fight Night 27 event, coming out victorious via split decision. The win followed another successful performance at UFC 157, where he defeated Josh Neer (33-13-1) via unanimous decision, making it two in a row for the Utah native since making the decision to drop down a division to welterweight.
Gastelum has also won two in a row inside the UFC’s octagon, defeating Uriah Hall (7-4) at the TUF 17 finale to earn himself the TUF 17 title, before also making the choice to drop down to 170, where he beat Brian Melancon (7-3) in impressive fashion last month, rocking him early before sinking in a rear-naked choke for the submission victory at UFC Fight Night 27.
