on

A light heavyweight scrap between Thiago Silva (16-3, 2nc) and Ovince St Preux (14-5) that was provisionally booked for UFC Fight Night 35, has now been rebooked for UFC 171 in Dallas, Texas. While reasons were not given for why Silva withdrew from the original date  a few weeks back, it appears all is now well for the Brazilian with the fight set to take place two months later than originally planned, according to an announcement earlier today from UFC officials.

Silva goes into the bought riding a two-fight winning streak in the UFC, having knocked out Rafael Cavalcante (12-4, 1nc) back in June, in a fight that earned him both “Knockout of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” honours and more recently scoring a unanimous decision victory over Matt Hamill (11-5) in October.

St. Preux meanwhile has made an undefeated start to his UFC career having debuted with a technical decision victory over Gian Villante (11-4) in April, before following it up with a knockout victory against Cody Donovan (8-4), back in August at UFC Fight Night 26.

UFC officials have also announced a middleweight scrap for the event, with Sweden’s Tor Troeng (16-5-1), who is currently 1-1 in the UFC, taking on Bubba McDaniel (21-7), who also shares a 1-1 UFC record.

UFC 171 takes place on March 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. You can check out the updated card below.
