An exiting bout featuring two promising young featherweight has been added to UFC 172, with Max Holloway (8-3, pictured) set to take on Andre Fili (13-1) at the April event.
The twenty-two year old Holloway, who hails from Waianae, Hawaii, is currently 4-3 in the UFC after quickly racking up seven bouts inside the octagon since his February, 2012 debut when he was just twenty years old. The Hawaiian native’s last appearance came at UFC Fight Night 34 earlier this year where he put in a “Knockout of the Night” performance, finishing UFC debutant Will Chope (19-6) by second round TKO.
Andre “Touchy” Fili is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak and made his first UFC appearance in October, 2013 at UFC 166. The twenty-three year old put in an impressive performance, knocking out Jeremy Larsen (8-5, 1nc) in the second round. Training down at Team Alpha Male, in Sacremento, California, Fili is now set for his second appearance inside the octagon, when he takes on Holloway.
Meanwhile, Joe Ellenberger (14-1), who recently signed with the UFC, is set to make his promotional debut on the card, after a bout was agreed between him and Yancy Medeiros (10-1) in the lightweight division.
Ellenberger has lost just once in his professional career and has a reputation as a finisher, having ended twelve of his fourteen career wins inside the time limit, including eight via (T)KO. He last competed in December, 2012, where he earned a first-round knockout over Joe Wilk (17-7).
Medeiros, who has also suffered just one career defeat, is currently 1-1 in his UFC career and last appeared at the UFC Fight For The Troops 3 event in November, 2013. Medeiros put on a spectacular performance, knocking out longtime veteran Yves Edwards (42-21-1) inside the first round.
