Donald Cerrone Charged With Third Degree Assault

It would appear that UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone (20-5 (1nc), pictured) has landed himself in trouble with the Grand County Colorado Sheriff’s Department, after it was confirmed that the thirty-year old has been charged with third degree assault, following an incident in Grand County, Colorado on June 29th.

CagePotato were issued the following statement from the Grand County Colorado Sheriff’s Department.

“Donald A. Cerrone, 30 years of age, has been charged with Third Degree Assault by a summons to court, and it is a Class One Misdemeanor. There is no warrant for him at this time. Mr. Cerrone and another person, Jeffrey S. Aley, were involved in a boating rage incident (similar to road rage but by use of boats) onLake Granby. The incident escalated to the point where Mr Cerrone assaulted Mr. Aley. Mr. Aley was also charged with Reckless Operation of a boat and Reckless Endangerment, a Class Three Misdemeanor. The case is still ongoing, and has not been concluded in court.”

Cerrone is currently scheduled to take on Rafael Dos Anjos (19-6) in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 27, which takes place on August 28th, at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Whether this incident puts the bout into any jeopardy remains to be seen.
