It was revealed on August 21st that UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone (20-5 (1nc), pictured) was facing a third degree assault charge, following an alleged boating incident on June 29th in Grand County, Colorado.

Cerrone and another individual, Jeffery S Aley were involved in a boating rage incident, (similar to road rage but by use of boats) which led to Cerrone allegedly assaulting Mr Aley. While there is no warrant for Cerrone’s arrest, he is set to appear in court in October.

In a statement provided to MMAJunkie, UFC officials indicated that Cerrone was cooperating fully with the investigation, suggesting they are happy for his UFC Fight Night 27 bout with Rafael Dos Anjos (19-6) to go ahead.

“We are aware of the situation and understand that Mr. Cerrone is fully cooperating with the investigation.”

Cerrone goes into the bout following a victory over K.J. Noons (11-7) at UFC 160 in May, 2013, Cerrone won the fight via unanimous decision.
